2006 – 2009:
A whole new electricity distribution system feeding Kiruna and LKAB with electrical power has been built around Kiruna.
Construction of a new main sewer (waste-water pipe) was completed.
New power station for the railway.
The municipality also completed new detailed plans regarding the new railway.
2009-:
The comprehensive plan for the city centre will be revised according to a decision taken by the municipal executive committee, November 2009. The intention is to find out if there are other options for the location of the new city centre.
2009 - 2012:
Construction of the new railway on the other side of the mine mountain Kirunavaara is in progress
2009-2015:
The Swedish Road Administration continues the planning regarding new routes for road E10 and road 870. The goal is to have the new E10 completed by 2015.
2009-:
Kiruna Municipality and LKAB are working together on creating a Mine City Park in the first areas affected by the deformations. The park will serve as a buffer zone between the city and the industrial area. The detailed plan has to be approved by the City Council during the fall.
2013-2016:
Buildings that will be affected are an apartment complex with 150 apartments, the Bolag hotel (Bolagshotellet), Hjalmar Lundbohmsgården (home of the first manager of LKAB) and parts of the residential area Bolagsområdet etc.
2023:
Residential districts, an elemantary school called Bolagsskolan, fire station etc.
2030:
Lake Ala Lombolo will be affected. Due to pollution, possible measures are analysed.
2033:
Lombia sports ground, Kiruna church and additional residential buildings.
